Dave Shafer, Council Member

Dave Shafer has been an Independence resident since 1993 and his wife Dianna has lived in Independence her whole life.  They have two successful children whom are both Simon Kenton graduates.  Their son Jacob is a Medic/Firefighter and their daughter Kellie is in the KY Army NG MP and is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. 

Dave volunteered as a youth soccer coach and referee for over 10 years with NKYA and has been a small business owner in Independence since 2001.  He received a Key to the City in 2019 in recognition of his service to the City of Independence.  Dave graduated in 2002 from the Independence Citizens Police Academy and has been an officer of the Independence Citizen Police Academy Alumni since 2009.

Dave is proud to be serving his city as a council member.
