Independence V.I.P.S. Program

Volunteers in Police ServiceAs part of the Independence Police Department's ongoing commitment to community orienting policing we are pleased to announce the Volunteers in Police Service program.  This program, one of many formed under the USA Freedom Corps, allows residents of the city to become more involved and to assist the Indepepndence Police Department in various areas.

Below are some of the areas that volunteers in the VIPS program can participate:

  • Outreach Assistant
  • Fingerprint Technician
  • Traffic/Patrol Assistant
  • Special Projects
  • Administrative Duties
  • Citizen Police Academy Assistant
  • Annual Report Generation
  • Investigative Assitant
  • School Resource Assistant
