Independence City Council - Carol Franzen

I have been a resident of Independence since 1997 and was first elected to City Council in 2002.  I am currently serving my sixth term on council.

I graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1993 and earned a Bachelors degree in Political Science with an area of concentration in Public Administration.

My two oldest sons attend Simon Kenton High School and my youngest son attends Summit View Middle School where I have been an assistant middle school football coach for the last four seasons.

I have been active member of Independence Christian Church for thirteen years where I have served as board chair and am currently serving as Treasurer and Elder.

Accomplishments on council include maintaining a balanced budget.  Have kept tax increases to a minimum while also expanding city services.  Worked to stop the building of the Kenton County Detention Center in Independence as well as worked with other citizens to successfully find an alternate location for the detention center and assisted with the completion of the Downtown Independence Small area study.
