Independence City Government

The City of Independence is comprised of a Mayor and six City Council members. The Mayor presides over the City Council and they serve as the legislative body for Independence. City Council has the responsibility for enacting City ordinances, appropriating and managing funds to conduct City business, and providing policy direction to other city departments.
