Independence Strategic Action Committe
(ISAC)
As proposed by the Independence Community Small Area Study completed in 2007, the Mayor appointed community volunteers to serve on the Independence Strategic Action Committee (ISAC).
I.S.A.C. is comprised of: Rodney Crice (Chair), Chris Reinersman (Vice Chair), Jake Stremmel (Secretary), Scott Wells, Brian Davis. The committee meets monthly at 7:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Independence Senior Citizen and Community Center Building. ISAC plays an advisory role to City Council on the implementation of the Independence Small Area Study.
The Independence Small Area Study will serve as the primary guideline for future growth in the city. The Committee will review all Stage II Development plans and make recommendations to the City Council. One of the most important roles that I.S.A.C. will perform will be to assist the City with the implementation of the Small Area Study by providing recommendations to City Council for public improvements, zoning ordinance amendments, and other programs suggested by the Study. I.S.A.C. has formed four sub-committees that will focus on the Small Area Study recommendations for Design Guidelines (building facades, signage, etc), Zoning Update (update current city zoning to allow for land uses suggested in the Small Area Study), City Beautification (tree board, other landscaping, clean-ups, etc.), and Historic Preservation (Downtown revitalization/promotion, identify and determine guidelines for other historic properties/features/events within the city). I.S.A.C. needs the help of local residents to move forward with implementation of the plan.
All ISAC meetings are open to the public.
