Folmer and threshing machine engine - Independence, Ky c. 1920 Independence is one of two county seats, and for years before Kenton County’s Covington Courthouse was constructed, the Independence Courthouse was a bustling place for lawyers, judges, and every day folk to come do business. Our Courthouse has seen the likes of Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln’s first vice-president, politician William Jennings Bryan, and was even the site of Civil War rallies. Soon, the Independence Courthouse Campus will undergo a major renovation, polishing one of the most beloved jewels in our city. - Courtesy the Doris Wicklund King Collection - Cour tesy of the Mary Lou Scho borg Kaub Colle ction
